Qeshm Island, Hormozgan Province
Themed ‘Proposals for Concrete Safeguarding Measures’, the Qeshm Island Expert Meeting consisted of a three-day event with expert panels, presentations, discussion forums, exhibitions, cultural performances, tour of the Island’s representative/endangered ICH, and visits of good safeguarding practices. The Qeshm Island Expert Meeting was an event on the 2015 Action Plan of Tehran ICH Centre that was organized in collaboration with Qeshm Island Free Zone, Qeshm Island Geopark, the Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), Hormozgan Province Directorate for Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism, Qeshm Island local communities, and a number of NGOs and institutes active on ICH. The participating countries included Afghanistan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Iran, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Tajikistan, and Turkey. UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office and UNESCO Qatar participated actively, too.
